1. Absorbent cotton is a cotton that has been chemically treated to remove fat. It is made of raw cotton, which is processed by removing impurities, degreasing, bleaching, washing, drying and finishing. It absorbs liquid more easily than ordinary cotton, is a sanitary product, also used in the manufacture of nitrocellulose, also known as medicinal cotton. Absorbent cotton should be odorless, tasteless, no pollution, good water absorption, soft and slender fiber, white and elastic, easy to stratify, no acid, alkali and other harmful impurities, its quality should meet the technical standards formulated by the Ministry of Health.

2. Manufacturing method of absorbent cotton: use fine cotton, tear it off, pick out visible impurities, such as pebbles, dead leaves, etc. Wash the cotton with water until the run-off runs clear. Put the cotton in an enamel pot, fill it with water just enough to cover it, then add 2% to 5% of the water's weight to the pot, cover the pot, bring to a boil, and simmer for 10 minutes. Cool, rinse with plenty of water and knead for about 10 minutes. Place the washed cotton on clean paper to dry. Note the caustic nature of lye (NaOH). Wear gloves and a plastic waist and wash immediately upon contact with skin. Cooking time should not be too long, so as not to decrease the degree of polymerization, affecting esterification. Pay attention to dust when drying.
